Our Backstory
Framework Innovation was formally established in 2014 as an innovation consulting firm and grant writing consultancy for technology-based organisations, building on the founder’s extensive experience in the field.
Whilst initially focusing on grant funding support in the UK and Europe, we discovered that many projects needed some elements of innovation consultancy to advance the innovation and business concept, and project planning, to the required level of readiness for grant funding success.
To address this need, we developed the innovation thinking, tools, and techniques that underpin our grant writing processes; enabling us to work efficiently and effectively with organisations to define, critique, and develop their innovation concepts, business cases, and project plans as part of our grant writing services.
These proprietary frameworks and tools now form an integral component of our innovation consultancy offering, building on well-established innovation strategy and best practices.

Our Director
Rob has over two decades experience in the fields of innovation consultancy and grant writing, including European Commission and Innovate UK support. In his early career, Rob worked for a sector specific research centre, assuming responsibility for coordinating, writing, and negotiating large multi-partner research proposals for National and European funding programmes.
In 2006 Rob moved to a multinational research centre and innovation consulting firm, focusing on delivery of a combined innovation consultancy and grant writing service offering. Here Rob worked with organisations to identify unmet market needs, conceive and develop novel solution concepts, define robust business plans, develop R&D roadmaps, mobilise development and value-chain partnerships, and acquire grant funding support in the UK and Europe. Many of these projects adopted an open innovation strategy, working with leading European organisations, to develop truly disruptive solutions for grand societal challenges.
This led naturally to his next role focusing on consolidation of this learning into training and support programmes for the company’s expanding network of research and industrial partners who sought to develop their own innovation and grant writing skills.
In 2014 Rob established Framework Innovation, a grant writing and innovation consultancy firm, to support technology-based organisations in the conception, development, and exploitation of breakthrough and disruptive innovations, and maximise grant funding UK and Europe success.
